You see nothing more than two-hundred animals,
\nidentical.
\nYet I can recognize each by her laughter.

In the desolate, forbidding mountains
\non the dark and silent paths
\ndaily we walk together
\nsometimes they, sometimes I,

Like Bach\u2019s sorrowful hymns
\nthey dissipate\u2026
\nSometimes swiftly, sometimes placidly
\nuntil upon us, the night descends.<\/p>\n
And when the appointed day arrives
\nto Mother Earth I shall express my gratitude
\nto my dear animal, my appreciation,
\nand I will slaughter her.
\nI won\u2019t waste a single drop of her blood\u2026<\/p>\n
Only we know of this exhortation
\nOnly we know who we are
\nand although we shall cry knowing all of this, so shall we rejoice.<\/p>\n
In the silent, distant meadows,
